LABRADOODLE DETAILS

APPEARANCE
Labradoodle coats are divided into three categories: wool, fleece, or hair. Australian Labradoodles predominantly have fleece coats that are straight or wavy only. Wool and hair coats do not apply other than to early generation Labradoodles

COLOURS
Labradoodles' coat colors include chocolate, cafe, parchment, cream, gold, apricot, red, black, silver, chalk, lavender, and blue-ish gray. Coat patterns can be solid, white abstract markings, parti, phantom, or tri-coloured. In general, Labradoodles may have any coat-color a poodle can have.

HEIGHT & WEIGHT RANGE
Labradoodles can be different sizes, depending on the size of sire and dam used, and their size-names generally follow the names used for poodles: miniature, medium, and standard.

TEMPERAMENT
Labradoodles often display an affinity for water and strong swimming ability from their parent breeds. Like most Labrador retrievers and poodles, Labradoodles are generally friendly, energetic, and good with families and children. Their parent breeds are both among the world's most intelligent dog breeds, in which the poodle is believed to be among the smartest (second, after the border collie).

MAINTENANCE
Labradoodles can have different types of fur. Some look like shaggy retrievers, others resemble a Poodle with loose curls. Many fall somewhere in between. They are not low-maintenance dogs when it comes to grooming. Plan to brush the Labradoodle at least every other day using a slicker brush, and have him clipped every 8 to 12 weeks.

HEALTH & LIFESPAN
The Australian Labradoodle Association of America says the animals are 'generally considered healthy dogs' but do have some common problems, like hip and elbow dysplasia. Owners can expect a healthy dog to be a member of the family for around 10-15 years.

IDEAL OWNERS
A Labradoodle's temperament depends on several things including the temperaments of his parents (especially the mother), the amount of socialization he receives, and the genes he inherits. In general, Labradoodles are friendly dogs who are devoted to their families, smart and highly trainable, thanks to the Poodle's intelligence and the Lab's love of working with people.
